2. Structure of Exposition Text
In general, exposition text consists of three main
parts. The three parts are thesis, argument, and
reaffirmation.
a. Thesis
The opening part of the exposition text is the
thesis. The role of the thesis here is quite important
because the thesis is part of an introduction to an
issue, problem, or the author's general views on the
topic he will discuss.
b. Arguments
The series of arguments will present a number
of the author's opinions or arguments as an
explanation of the thesis stated previously. In this
section, the author can also state a number of facts to
strengthen the argument. For example, by citing
valid data, expert opinions, or scientific discoveries.
c. Reaffirmation/Reiteration/Conclusion
The final part of the exposition text is a
reaffirmation. In reaffirmation, here the author
reiterates the opinion he expressed in the argument
and can also add suggestions or recommendations to
the problems raised.
