Rules Governing Lakewood Country Club
6. Before each round, it is the responsibility of each player to check in with the Golf
Pro Shop.
7. No one may start play on the 10th hole, unless authorized by the Golf Pro Shop.
Groups that start play on hole number ten do not have the right of way when they
make the turn to hole number one.
8. Member Scotch tournaments, Member Club Championship finals, and Interclub
team matches have the right of way over all other matches. Scotch matches have no
priority on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
9. Once on the golf course, a foursome has priority. It should have precedence over
and be entitled to pass any twosomes, threesomes, and gangsomes, if there is an
opening immediately ahead. Singles have no standing and should give way to a
match of any kind.
10. Prior to the Tuesday and Thursday Ladies’ Play Days, there are approximately
four tee times reserved for Member or Member accompanied play. These tee times
may be booked up to 48 hours in advance. Non-Member Classifications may play
during these times on a walk-in basis only (provided there is available space).
Golfers' Liability
A player is responsible for any injury or damage caused by his or her golf ball. This
liability is incurred any time a player's ball causes damage to person or property
within or without the property of Lakewood Country Club.
Driving Range
Hitting balls over the Range fence or into the parking area is strictly prohibited. Any
Member or his or her family who intentionally does so will be subject to a $200 fine
and disciplinary action by the Golf Committee and Board of Directors. Members are
responsible for their guests' use of the range.
Pace of Play
It is the responsibility of each Member to play his or her round in a fast and orderly
manner. Four hours is the maximum time allowed for an 18-hole round of golf. The
Golf Pro Shop staff will administer the pace of play of four hours or less and/or
keeping up with the group ahead of you. If there is an open hole in front of your
group and a faster group is behind you, you must either close the gap or let the group
play through. If a group remains out of position, the Golf Pro Shop staff has the
authority to:
1. Pull the group aside and let faster players go through.
2. Move the group to the correct position on the golf course.
3. Pull the group off the golf course and assign the group a later tee time.
