7 - Profiling³ in Leadership: Motivating Employees and Teams to Perform at Their Best

Tip 2: Meet the red employee's desire for dominance

Wherever possible, give the employee praise and recognition,
and give him room to report on his successes in detail. In this
way, you satisfy his desire for dominance. You can also flatter a
redhead a little. And if you assign him tasks, he expects you to
formulate them precisely, to give him clear information and to
describe your concerns clearly. In the case of delegation, it is
important to give him not only the task, but also the necessary
competencies and responsibility. This counteracts his desire for

the advantages he has. Explain what is in it for him if he gets
involved. However, if there are disadvantages, you should never
               conceal them.

Tip 4: Argue and criticize harshly and factually, but in a
               friendly manner

If you, as a dominant manager, discuss or conduct a conflict
meeting with the self-determined red employee who is
concerned with status and prestige, you must of course
proceed differently than with the relaxed and
