THE POWER OF READING PEOPLE
NATURAL STYLE, ADAPTED STYLE, AND THE TTI
SUCCESS INSIGHTS WHEEL
In the TTI Style Insights DISC behavioral reports, every person
has a natural style and an adapted style. What does this mean
in the context of the eight segments and roles on the Success
Insights Wheel?
If you have a family-oriented and harmonious personal life but find
yourself adopting a more assertive and decisive role at work, you’re
experiencing the distinction between your natural and adapted be-
havioral styles. What is the difference?
• Your natural style is your inherent self, the one you exhibit
when you’re in comfortable settings, often at home. It’s the
behavior that comes instinctively to you, shaped by your
life experiences, and it remains relatively constant over time.
Even under stress, this is the style that typically surfaces be-
cause it’s deeply ingrained.
• The adapted style is the persona you adopt in response to
your work environment or social contexts. It’s the behavior
you choose to display because it’s perceived as appropriate
or necessary in certain settings. This style can change, espe-
cially if you transition to a different workplace culture that
values different behaviors.
In practical terms, such as in recruitment, it’s the natural style of a
candidate that can be more telling for a role. It shows the candidate’s
innate tendencies and how they might react instinctively to work
situations, which is often more revealing than the adapted style they
may present during an interview.
