experience he had counseling people, he told me he had a criminal

justice degree and he had counseled prisoners. I knew then we were
in trouble, at least I had a psychology degree. I just felt that someone

in his position should at least have been required to have some sort of
counseling certifications. He had the power to use against people at

their most vulnerable moments. Had I not possessed such a strong

spirit of what was right and wrong, I could easily have fallen prey to
              this man.

He knew we were financially stable and when he saw that I did
not buy into his definition of being born again, he did not want to
have anything to do with us. Now I was completely done with the

institution of the church and I would go back to receiving my

              continued to distrust his messengers.

We left the session in separate cars and Leroy was first to arrive
back home. I had stopped by Christine’s home before going to face

Leroy. An hour later I got home, and Leroy was in the kitchen cooking
dinner. He was acting like nothing was wrong, like I never told him I
did not like him. He asked me if I wanted to sit down and have dinner

with him. I looked as if he had missed the boat. I looked at him like
he was truly crazy and left to go back to Christine’s to spend the night.

The next week Leroy had decided he would join AA. I knew it

was not going to last because he kept saying he was not feeling the
AA. He had purposely chosen to go to AA meetings held in halfway
houses consisting of prisoners in transition from jail. Of course,
