As I said, Jerome was my man and I thought he had my back, but as I
found out later Jerome was great at homing in on a person's
vulnerabilities. He knew I was dedicated and a hard worker and loved
my family. Family is all you got and I'm not going the route of a lot of
black men out here, I'm going to be there for my family.
My family had grown to include another child and my wife did
not work. Jerome decided to give me 10% of his shares to demonstrate
another point for loyalty to him. At that time neither Giselle nor I
realized it was Jerome's mode of operation, he tried to buy loyalty.
Manipulating loyalties was the main reason Jerome wanted to head the
HR department. He felt when he and Shannon hired the employees;
they would all be loyal to him. He thought, just in case Giselle and I
got out of line, all of the employees would be loyal to him and leave.
Jerome also decided he would not draw a salary for the first six
months of his employment with CGS until we were able to build up
the bank account with the invoices. By then Giselle had obtained
American Express cards for all of us. Jerome began charging furniture,
clothes and whatever he wanted to the charge card. He was averaging
two to three thousand dollars a month with the credit card. He was
living large then! Even though, he wanted us to believe he was
sacrificing by not taking a paycheck although he was just taking his
salary through the credit card.
As we grew, Shannon began to get totally out of control. As the
Vice President of Operations, the staff reported to her. She had all the
