Walk for Oral Cancer Awareness

On September 15th our Nassau Academy of Den stry hosted our 2nd Annual Walk for Oral Cancer Aware‐
ness at Bethpage State Park. Bright and early on a beau ful Sunday morning volunteers arrives to set up
the registra on and screen tents as well as the balloon arch, raffle prizes and T‐Shirts and tote bags filled
with water, fruit and oral hygiene items for the walkers. At 9:00 AM nearly 100 a endees began their 5K
walk around the park. In a endance was the Senior Vice President of the American Punjabi Society,
Mohinder Singh Taneja. He presented the Society with a Ceremonial Shawl to commemorate our event.

Presen ng the shawl is a tradi onal gesture that symbolizes respect, honor, and warmth. Its acknowledges
the recipient’s achievements and conveys deep respect and apprecia on for their contribu ons. We want
to thank them for the honor, as well as our sponsors for the event, the New York State Dental Founda on,
Leading Edge Oral Surgery, Plainview Hospital, StellaLife, Dr. Claudine Cafferata, Island Endodon cs, Family

Belmont Racetrack

On October 15 Dr. Jim Dolan, along with Northshore Hospital Residents Dr.
Jacqueline Sobota and Shivam Jauhar staffed our Oral Cancer Screening booth at
the Belmont Racetrack Employee Health Fair. It was a beau ful day weather
wise and they screened a record 82 individuals.

Two weeks prior to that, on Sept.30th, our Execu ve Director, Dr. Gene Porcelli
gave a lecture to the Belmont Racetrack employees on the connec on between
oral health and overall health as well as on proper oral hygiene procedures.
