CHILD CARE PROGRAMS
Several options exist for families at Renbrook. Students in the Preschool Program may participate in the After-
School Program from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays (Fridays until 2:00 p.m.) and Junior Kindergarten
12:30 – 3:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until 2:00 p.m. on a daily or weekly basis. Students
in the After-School Program will be grouped together by grade level when possible, but will not necessarily
remain with their classroom faculty.
All students in Preschool through Grade 5 may participate in an After-School Program from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Monday-Thursday and 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Families may participate on a daily or weekly basis by prior
enrollment. This service may also be used on a drop-in basis subject to advance notice to the classroom
faculty or the receptionist at the Front Desk, and available staffing.
After-School Drop-In Procedures
Students in Grade 1-5 who are not picked up at the 3:00 p.m. dismissal by 3:15 p.m., will be escorted, by the
faculty on duty, to After-School. Faculty on duty will notify the Front Desk.
If a student comes to the After-School space without a faculty escort as a drop-in, and tells them that he/she
is supposed to be there, the After-School staff will not call the parent—unless it is determined that there are
unusual circumstances.
For safety reasons, faculty should not be allowing students to stay with them in their classroom After-School.
If there were an emergency and the student was alone no one would know that he/she was there.
Vacation Care Program
During vacation periods, Vacation Care Program is available for students in Preschool through Grade 5.
Vacation Care includes the December and March vacations, most school holidays, and selected time periods
before school starts. Students must be registered in advance in order to participate in the Vacation Care
Program. During Vacation Care the students must bring their lunches. In order to participate in Vacation
Care, a child must enroll as a Renbrook student.
Staffing Protocol for the After-School Program
Staffing for the sections in the After-School Program is determined by student enrollment. The Preschool
sections are staffed according to a 6:1 student/faculty ratio; in the Junior Kindergarten sections, the
student/faculty ratio is 8:1.
When a section reaches full enrollment, any additional applicants are put on a waitlist. The decision to create a
new section is made by the Division Head. Throughout the year, the number of students enrolled in the After-
School program from 12:30-3:00 p.m. is subject to change. However, the majority of the students are enrolled
during the month of September.
After-School sections are offered to Preschool and Junior Kindergarten faculty who have an FTE that is less
than 1.0.
Part-time Early Learning Center faculty will be offered a section according to (1) their grade level and (2) their
seniority at Renbrook.
For example, if a teacher were needed for a Junior Kindergarten After-School section, any part-time Junior
Kindergarten faculty would be available for the additional assignment. The section would be offered to the
Junior Kindergarten faculty according to their seniority at Renbrook. If there were no Junior Kindergarten
faculty who wanted the additional duty, then it would be offered to part-time faculty in the Preschool program.
In this case, the same rules regarding seniority would apply.
