        DISCIPLINE
Articulating clear and high expectations, reinforcing positive behaviors, creating a strong rapport with your
students, and following through without fail in response to negative behaviors are the four foundational pillars
to best ensuring a positive culture within a classroom or a school. On occasion, though, despite implementing
all of these factors, children test boundaries and fall short of expectations; and when they do, the adult/school
response to that infraction needs to be thoughtful, logical, fair, and timely.

        DISMISSAL DUTY

Division Heads will announce faculty assignments. Faculty are responsible for order and safety and will
        ensure students:
            a. wait in either bus or designated carpool areas
            b. don't run around or throw things
            c. form a line before boarding a bus, with young students preceding older ones/take attendance
            d. wait for a car or bus to stop before approaching it
            e. are polite to driver and passengers
            f. remain on a bus after boarding
            g. If drivers are late, Lower School faculty notify the Front Desk and wait with the student(s); Upper
School faculty will send the student(s) to After-School study hall.

        EXTRA SUPPORT

Renbrook is deeply committed to supporting the academic progress of its students. Ideally, an effective
classroom presentation or activity successfully connects any new information or ways of thinking to the
student’s present learning profile. Sometimes, though, for whatever reason a student does not master the new
material within the dedicated classroom time to the degree that he/she needs to. When that occurs, the first
line of help is to schedule an afterschool time with the teacher for support instruction. All Lower School
teachers are available to help students from the time school dismisses until 4:00 p.m. Monday through
Thursday. Parents are asked to schedule arrangements with the teacher in advance (at least 24 hours) if an
"extra help" session is to be scheduled. Pick-up arrangements need to be made in accordance with the
        session.

Beyond the extra help sessions, in grades 1-5, and in the Upper School, the learning strategist meets with
limited, small groups of students or individuals when the school determines that such a need exists. He/she
works with the students on the study and organizational skills that need strengthening, and may, in
conjunction with the classroom faculty, also perform limited tutoring in various subject areas. If outside
tutoring occurs, he/she acts as liaison with the tutor and coordinates the school's efforts to help the student.

The third line of support involves hiring an independent, outside tutor. That strategy should only be
implemented after the first two lines of support have been tried.

        FIELD TRIPS
Please avoid costly trips, and clear all trips with the appropriate Division Head well in advance.
Parent drivers who wish to attend events will either pay their own fees or will have their expenses paid by
having the school charge students an additional amount. Faculty arranging such trips will decide on the
procedure to be followed in each instance. All billing will be done through the Business Office.
