A form is sent out in late spring to all divorced parents requesting information on existing court orders and
custody arrangements from the Admission Office.
PERSONAL GIFT POLICY
Employees are in general prohibited from accepting personal gifts (including tickets to entertainment
events), favors, or services from students, parents, or suppliers of goods or services to the School, because
such practice could appear to adversely affect our impartial judgment. However, the acceptance of
occasional gifts, favors and tickets to entertainment events which are reasonable in nature, frequency and
cost may be appropriate, but cannot be in excess of $100 in value. Any gift that exceeds $100, must be
disclosed to the Division Head. Requesting or soliciting personal gifts, favors, entertainment or services, no
matter how trivial, is not permitted under any circumstances. All employees should disclose these activities in
the Annual Conflict of Interest Statement.
RELIGIOUS OBSERVANCES
The first day of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Good Friday are holidays at Renbrook. For the first two days
of Passover, there will be no tests or quizzes in any class. Homework assignments will be given in such a way
that a student who must miss school for religious observance will have extra time to complete them.
SAFETY AND INJURIES
All faculty are expected to exercise due care and diligence to ensure the safety of all students. Unsafe
conditions should be reported by email to the Maintenance Department with a copy to the Head of School, as
soon as they are detected. Every accident suffered by any person in a school building on school property, or
on a school-sponsored event, must be reported at once to the school nurse or to the appropriate Division
Head. The accident report will be kept on file by the nurse, who will notify the Division Head and/or the Head
of School immediately of any serious injury.
All faculty members are empowered and obliged to put an immediate stop to any dangerous activity on the
part of any student, and such activities should thereupon be reported immediately to the faculty member who
is in charge of that particular activity, or to the Division Head.
Care of Illness or Injuries
The nurse's schedule is: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.
1. If minor illness or injury occurs, a faculty with the student sends him/her to the nurse or notifies
the front desk of need for first aid help. The nurse will notify the parents if necessary.
a. Early Learning Center students are not sent to the nurse. When necessary, the nurse will go to
the Early Learning Center building, or a faculty will take the student to the nurse.
b. Lower School (Grades K-5) students may go to the nurse for routine needs but should be
accompanied by a peer or faculty. In case of any question, a faculty may take a student to the
nurse or can telephone the nurse.
c. Upper School students may go to the nurse unaccompanied unless the company or assistance
of a peer or faculty seems advisable. A pass from a faculty to the nurse is requested if there is
any reason to believe that the student is not actually in need of the nurse's services. Students
leaving school due to illness should see the nurse before leaving campus or calling a parent for
transportation.
d. When the nurse is not in her office, a sign on her door will direct everyone to the front desk for
assistance.
