uang Si Thep
“Muang Si Thep”, located on the rim of the western side of the Pasak
River terrace, was an important city and the best-known city in the Pasak basin.
Its city wall and moats were built in an east-west direction with a

complex city style. The satellite images and topographic map show that its moats
aligned with a straight line drawn from Mount Thamorat on the western
Chao Phraya plain and the Mount Phanom Dome on the rim of the eastern Korat
plateau. Archaeological evidence discovered by the Fine Arts
Department in Bangkok showed that the settlement was established in the
pre-historic era. Moreover, considering the ancients and antiquities,
it was assumed that the settlement and founding of the city began in
the Dvaravati Period. Later, it became prosperous and kept growing until
the era of Khmer culture.
