An ancient city
of over 3,000 years
“Muang Bua” is 1 of 92 cities with city walls and
moats surround the territory of Thung Kula Ronghai.
The evidence reveals that it was inhabited for
over 3,000 years. The Fine Arts Department noted that
Sukanya Baonerd (an archaeologist of the Office of Fine Arts 11,
Ubon Ratchathani Province), has discovered some evidence
indicating that settlement began as far back as the
pre-historic period and lasted until the period of Khmer

culture around the 15 -18 Buddhist centuries. The discovery
of cremation urns illustrated the traditional way of managing
life after death. In some periods, cremation containers “urns”
