Chapter 1
Methodology
Quote (1) :
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Albert Einstein
cloud brain hands
look of hopelessness
In this quote by Albert Einstein, i began by decomposing the words to different
images. I chose the main character to be an old man as from the context of the
quote, i felt regret for not knowing earler what could have made things much easier.
The word “cannot” shows dispair and weakness, that was portraid by sadness. The
word “solve” is showed by the cloud. The collage is divided into two equal parts. The
le side is foggy and the old man is blind as his decisions are not changing based on
the siutaons yet are just a repeon of the past. His hand is holding his brain block-
ing it from the clear vision. On the other side is the wise clarity he is about to experi-
ence and in arabic leers i have spelled the word (Life).
At the beginning of my designs, i added the arabic leers to
the designs just as the image to the le shows. I had no inten-
on in changing the way they are. I later began experiment-
ing with the leers and found that twisng the leers around
the main character of the quote gave it more feeling and
meaning. Aer than i began to alter all the text in my designs
to be more included in the design and look as a part of it.
Quote (2) : In this quote by Plato, I chose the main character to be a young woman
“Love is a serious mental illness” being surrounded by the arms of her love. The way i placed his arm was
Plato meant to be able to shi the womans mood between the le (sad) face
Hands of man switch in mood and the right ( happy ) face. Being ghtly clinched shows how lile
control she has over which mood she wants to live by or which direcon
she wants to go. The cupid arrow coming through her head shows how
much in love she is and the buerfly symbolizes piece as this is where
she wants to be. Perhaps being mentally ill by him is exactly how she
wants to live. On top of her head like a crown she wears the words
“insane”.
To the le is the design before wrapping the text
around the main character. As seen, the arabic
leers were over the head acng as a crown and
now are wrapped around the girl and the arms of
the man around her.
