narrates as “Laws”. Not everyone has these 21 qualities or requires all of it to qualify as
a good leader. Even one trait in a person is a start, and like with any job or work, where

you get better at it by continuous practice and hard work, the same holds with
                                 63
                       leadership.

Stoney G deGeyter: “Everything rises and falls on leadership.” That is the
first line of the conclusion of John C Maxwell’s 21 Laws of Leadership. While Maxwell

has written many other books on leadership since 21 Laws, this book seems to be the
culmination of all of his leadership expertise, boiled down to 21 points. Each law gets

its dedicated chapter with meaningful instructions, explanations, and real-life examples

to back them up. 21 Laws also makes the point that leadership is not for business owners,
but it is for every individual. Businesses needs leaders, families need leaders, and even

friends need leaders in times of need. These 21 laws should be applied to everyone who
                                                                         64
need to become a stronger leader in all areas of life.

Obviously, Maxwell demonstrated that “some things never change.” It is true
that leadership is leadership, no matter how. Times change. Technology marches

forward. Culture differs from place to place. But the principles of leadership are
constant whether one is looking at the citizen of Ancient Greece, the Hebrews in the

Old Testament, the armies of the modern world, the leaders in the international

community, the pastors in local churches, or the business people of today’s global
                                                                                              65
economy. Leadership principles are unchanging and stand the test of time.

John C. Maxwell researched the 21 laws of leadership through learning by
doing. He wrote them depending on his own experiences. The person who applies the
