leadership books during the 1970s at the beginning of his new leadership career. Peter
Drucker was the king of management who ruled in the business world at that time. But

at the end of the 1980s, something changed as the new leadership authors were
beginning to process leadership books. People desired to buy and read them. Because

they could understand that life is going to move faster than ever, changing was normal
and they needed a way to negotiate with the world’s difficulties, which they were going

to face as more challenging. They realized that they needed to learn and practice

leadership to be successful in life.

As expressed by John C. Maxwell, leadership expert in his book: ‘Leader Shift,

The 11 Essential Changes Every Leader Must Embrace’: The future seems to be coming
at us faster than ever. It is not going to slow down. Technology, social media, and the

rate of change will never allow that to happen. To go forward, we need to move faster.
And as leaders, we need to stay ahead, we need to see more than others, and we need

                       to see before others.
2.3.2.2 The Essential Principles of leadership

Although there are 21 principles of leadership based on John C. Maxwell
(2007), only seven laws or principles will be presented in this section since seven of the

laws which will mention below are more correlated and vital to this study. Leadership
is based on influence and effectiveness. Without it, there is no success.

Thus, Zig Ziglar recommended to the amateur and mature leaders that
Maxwell’s 21 laws are worth pursuing, practice and compliance. Because they are like

                                                                                                        62

Gauri Kuchhal: The ‘21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,’ John Maxwell gives

a fresh perspective on leadership by instilling a belief that anyone can become a leader
as long as one decides to run it like a marathon instead of a sprint. Maxwell presents that

the persona of a leader through some time-tested techniques and qualities, which he
