grow up larger and effective. But Ray Kroc who bought the McDonald’s Hamburgers
shop for the sum of $2.7 million in 1961 was the one who complies with the law of the
lid effectively and becomes successful. Somehow, Maxwell left two ways to increase
the effectiveness level which is one could work very hard to develop own dedication to
achieve the higher goal and the second option is instead of working hard one must
increase the level of leadership skill.
2) The Law of Influence
He who thinks to leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk. If one
cannot influence people, then they will not follow him. And if people won’t follow him,
68
he is not a leader. That is the Law of Influence.
Maxwell illustrated the law of influence by giving the example of Abraham
th
Lincoln the 16 president of the United States how he can gather people gather to fight
in the Black Hawk War. And also, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa were beloved and
respected by a crowd of people. All of them are realized and compiled the law of
influence effectively. Position and title could help someone as a leader. But leaders are
influencers. If one cannot influence people, then he will never become a leader. No
matter who he is such as entrepreneur, pioneer, high positioner, philosopher, and
scientist, if he has no followers, he is not a leader. Thus, Maxwell observed this “The
69
true measure of leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less.”
3) The Law of Process
“Leadership develops daily, not in a day.” Becoming a leader is a lot like
investing successfully in the stock market. If one’s hope is to make a fortune in a day,
he or she is not going to be successful. There are no successful “day traders” in
leadership development. What matters most is what one must do day by day, over the

long haul.
