a) Participates in the installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of all civil works done
by administration, taking lead role in one’s area of skills specialization (carpentry, painting,
welding, plumbing, masonry, electrical) or providing support on other areas.
b) Undertakes regular rounds of buildings and grounds of the Institution as directed by the
superior to identify areas requiring maintenance and repair; undertakes needed basic
corrective action within one’s authority to decide and reports major repairs needed to the
superior for appropriate action.
c) Interprets basic plans, blueprints, and instruction from superiors or external professionals,
secures and prepares materials, and undertakes the required construction, installation, or
repair; checks accuracy of work in relation to specifications in the work order and
undertakes adjustments as needed.
d) Maintains standardization and uniformity of fabricated furniture and fixtures according to
usage and in compliance with specifications of requesting parties.
e) Assists the superior in inspecting and evaluating civil works such as installation, repair, and
maintenance done by third party contractors to determine acceptability in relation to
specifications contained in the work order.
f) Provides assistance to the purchasing assistant in the determination of technical
specifications of material and supplies required for civil works repairs and maintenance
activities.
g) Maintains preventive maintenance and repairs records and logs; documents work activities
including date, location, time, materials used, and description of work and
acknowledgement of the work unit that is the service recipient.
h) Ensures that tools and equipment issued under one’s responsibility are kept in good usable
condition.
i) Assists in ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and absence of safety risks and accident hazards
within the campus.
o Gardener
a) Implements instructions on the enhancement of aesthetic appeal of gardens, lawns, and
common areas within the Institution.
b) Undertakes gardening and landscaping activities in accordance with overall development
plans.
c) Maintains gardens by watering, trimming, pulling out weeds, dead grasses, and debris;
mows grass, water lawns, feeds and trims shrubs, tends flower beds and inspects assigned
work areas regularly to insure proper standards are maintained.
d) Operates all lawn and grounds equipment including power mowers.
e) Maintains the cleanliness, orderliness, and sanitation of the school grounds by sweeping
and disposing trash.
f) Maintains the greenhouse and nursery of ornamental plants; assists in the maintenance of
live botanical specimen for use in science classes.
g) Undertakes fertilization of plants and gardens; performs composting of biodegradable
waste in the composting pit to generate organic fertilizers.
h) Provides potted ornamental plants as part of the decorations for indoor work spaces and
common area.
i) Assists in the physical arrangement of school grounds and facilities during special
occasions.
