WALKING DRIVER (PILOT) / UNINJURED DRIVER (PILOT).
Pilot steps onto Osprey boat
Beware sharp spikes edges to shattered boats eg; carbon fibre and fibre glass
Requires assistance/medical assistance only if has a problem
Driver always recovered back to onshore medical team.
RECOVERY OF F1H2O. F1/F4 BOAT and DEBRIS.
This is NOT an Osprey duty but we may help if free but only if requested by the race director.
After driver the priority is to attend to buoys, make course safe.
During races/practice Osprey may hold broken down racing boat in centre of course lightly
alongside until suitable break in racing or end of session.
Towing: the default is that the local tow boats / aqua bikes are to be used.
During any F1H2O meeting F1/F4 racing and practice the team WILL NOT tow any race boats, the
priority is to get back on station. Aqua bikes are responsible for clearing course of debris, sunken
boats, and broken-down boats.
CREW TASKS 2 SEATER COVER
One boat fully crewed and equipped, 4 crew including 2 divers
TEAM MANAGER DUTIES AT F1 EVENTS.
Attend drivers’ briefings.
Keep crew informed of program (and any changes) for the event, evacuation sites, specific hazards.
Spokesman for the team.
Log events & incidents.
Select crews for Osprey1 and 2.
Make representation on the Team’s behalf to UIM, local organisers, Idea Marketing etc.
Enforce team rules for clothing, safety, discipline.
Report to Management team any matter he wishes of relevance to the team, the team’s reputation
and suggest appropriate sanctions when necessary.
Authorise purchase of equipment/kit locally when essential.
Inform crew of receptions, dinners, hotel changes etc.
Collect prizes/awards if only one team member asked to do so at official events.
Claim for meals by submitting clear & checked written table to the treasurer within 1 week
PUTTING BOATS AWAY - PACKING UP THE CONTAINER (F1).
There are multiple jobs to be done. Radios to be returned to timing and oxygen cylinders to
ambulances.
Wash boats down – ‘minimum’ is fresh water hosing – better to use detergent scrub all surfaces
before, drain plugs are removed– jack up dolly to facilitate drainage. Run water through engines
using the approved method.
All kit in/on boats removed and stowed.
All rubbish removed, boxes dried out.
Stabilising frame removed, disassembled, head into boat box with all bolts/nuts/washers in situ.
Each set of poles taped together, bolts and nut on poles. Winch fully wound in –and feed in
carefully; gloves or rag to avoid hand injury from sharp edges.
Container – swept out; all personal belongings sorted and removed form containers; wetsuits/boots
washed, hung up; boxes shut, these sets of boxes then strapped to side of container. Dunk rig,
frame, secured. Anything else secured to floor at sides of container; eg generator, tool box etc
