Searching the catalogue and borrowing library materials
You can search for, and check books out using the online catalogue located at the Librarian’s desk
in the Main Reading Room. You can also search for library resources at via the search page at
http://library.jch.unimelb.edu.au. Books are organised by Dewey subject classification.

Accessing Help
For help locating library books, checking items out, requesting the purchase of prescribed readings
for any of your subjects, or for items held offsite, you can drop by in person or email
librarian@jch.unimelb.edu.au with your request. You are also welcome to make requests for non-
compulsory texts, including magazines and works of fiction. In conjunction with your tutors, the
Librarian is also available to assist with more complex enquires relating to:
· Plagiarism, copyright and “fair use”
· The correct application of different citation styles
· Using reference management software to organise your sources and generate citations and
bibliographies
· Searching the University electronic databases
To make a time email librarian@jch.unimelb.edu.au or drop by the Librarian’s desk in the Main
Reading Room. The College Librarian is onsite several days a week, and is support by the Student
Library Assistant.
