PD Card Operation
4.8.1. Alert Relay
GuardII+ is equipped with a solid-state Alert Relay that can be programmed with one of
five behavior options using IAM:
• Disabled – the Alert Relay is not used.
• Normally Open, Latching – if there is no Alert condition, the relay contacts are open.
When an Alert is detected the relay will close and stay closed until reset.
• Normally Open, Momentary – if there is no Alert condition, the relay contacts are open.
When an Alert is detected the relay will close for 4 s and then automatically open again.
• Normally Closed, Latching – if there is no Alert condition, the relay contacts are closed.
When an Alert is detected the relay will open and stay open until reset.
• Normally Closed, Momentary – if there is no Alert condition, the relay contacts are
closed. When an Alert is detected the relay will open for 4 s and then automatically
close again.

Relay.
4.8.2. Alert Modbus Registers
Alerts are also reported over Modbus as described in Section 8.2.2. This information is
updated after Alert state of any monitoring technology changes. The Alert registers provide
the following information:
• The current state of the Alert Relay (open or closed).
• The overall Alert status of the monitor (no Alert, Alert or Alert test mode active).
• The Alert status of each monitoring technology.
4.8.3. Alert State
When GuardII+ enters the Alert state, the following occurs:
• The Alert Relay is activated (as it is configured in IAM).
• The front panel Alert indicator turns amber. Refer to the GuardII+ Series 4208 Platform
User Manual for full details on the indicator functions.
