part to report for work within the period stated in the order shall be a
valid ground for dismissal.
3.1.13.2. Vacation Leave
3.1.13.2.1. A regular faculty member shall not be entitled to the usual vacation and
sick leave credits but to proportional vacation pay (PVP) of 70 days
summer vacation plus 14 days of Christmas vacation. A faculty member
who has rendered continuous service in a school year without incurring
absences without pay of not more than 1 ½ days is entitled to 84 days
of proportional vacation pay.
3.1.13.2.2. All applications for vacation leave of absence for one (1) full day or
more shall be filed in advance or whenever possible five (5) days before
the effective date of such leave and shall be submitted on the
prescribed form for proper action by the Head of Agency.
3.1.13.3. Sick Leave
3.1.13.3.1. A faculty member, who is unable to report for work due to illness, may
apply for sick leave with pay provided he/she has accumulated service
credit. He/she is entitled to a sick leave of absence after presenting a
medical certificate.
3.1.13.3.2. All applications for sick leave of absence for one full day or more shall
be made on the prescribed form and filed immediately upon employee’s
return from such leave. Notice of absence, however, should be sent to
the immediate supervisor and/or to the Agency Head. A proper medical
certificate shall accompany an application for sick leave in excess of five
(5) successive days.
3.1.13.3.3. Sick leave may be applied for in advance in cases where the faculty will
undergo medical examination or operation or advised to rest in view of
ill health duly supported by a medical certificate.
3.1.13.3.4. In ordinary application for sick leave already taken not exceeding five
days, the Head of the Department concerned may duly determine
whether or not granting of sick leave is proper under the circumstances.
In case of doubt, a medical certificate may be required.
3.1.13.3.5. Sick leave shall be granted only on account of sickness or disability on
the part of the faculty member concerned or any member of his/her
immediate family. A sick faculty member can take an indefinite sick
leave of absence stating in his/her application form the appropriate
maximum number of days on leave as recommended by a government
physician.
3.1.13.4. Maternity Leave
3.1.13.4.1. Every female faculty member can avail of a 60-day maternity leave after
rendering an aggregate of two or more years of service. She can avail
herself of maternity benefits even if the period of delivery occurs during
the long vacation, in which case, both the maternity benefits and the
proportional vacation pay shall be received by the faculty member
concerned.
