resources. It is a portrayal of how lowly the church has
fallen. Money and material trappings of prosperity are
grossly inadequate to portray the riches of God which He is
willing to share with His children. When money and
material things become so exalted to a Christian, such
things tend to rival God in the heart of such Christians, and
even distract them from the true riches of God’s Kingdom.
No wonder Jesus warned us against exalting money in our
lives.
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will
hate the one and love the other, or else he will be
loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot
serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24).
d. A Guide toward God, and Away from Evil
The word of God has within it the grace to guide us more
and more into the things and will of God. It is also able to
guide us away from evil and iniquity. We have this truth in
the first 11 verses of Psalm 119.
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk
in the law of the LORD! Blessed are those who
keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the
whole heart! They also do no iniquity; They walk
in His ways. You have commanded us To keep
Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were
directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not
be ashamed, When I look into all Your
commandments. I will praise You with
