GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a
worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and
idle babblings, for they will increase to more
ungodliness” (2 Timothy 2:15-16).
Paul was simply challenging Timothy, as a Christian and
leader, how to lead and raise other Christians and leaders. It
shows that living just according to human opinion is not a
reliable way, nor does it please God. In fact, living by such
babblings will lead to more ungodliness. To get God’s
approval, it is vital to rightly divide and apply His word into
every area of our lives. This is why the student of God’s
word is called a worker or workman. When we study to
please God and not just to impress the public, the grace in
His word finds free flow into our lives.
c. A Channel into Divine Inheritance
The word of God gives access into our divine heritage, the
things God has prepared for those who love Him. “So now,
brethren,”
Paul says in Acts 20:32, “I commend you to God and to the
word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you
an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” By this
Paul simply shows that if we make a practice of studying and
living by God’s word, it is able to supply grace into our lives
by which we are able to access the things that will show the
world that we are true children of the living God.
