of auspicious contemplation is in fact, a boon that God or Nature has very graciously
bestowed upon Man. Unfortunately Man has miserably failed to comprehend the true
nature of this power. Scientists have successfully made remarkable and outstanding
inventions and discoveries with the help of this power of contemplation. Common people
rush to eat the fruit, when they see it fall from a tree. However, when Newton saw the
fruit falling from the tree, it triggered off his power of contemplation. Newton started
thinking, "Why did the fruit fall down? Why did it not go up?" Contemplating deeply on
these two questions, Newton was successful in discovering the law of gravity. Man
acquires this power of contemplation only through the process of listening to learned
lectures, reading good books, meditation on the problem in hand and guidance from right
persons. This power of contemplation gives rise, in the course of time, to the wonderful
power of intuition. Hence, persons who use the power of contemplation in any field of
their choice, acquire in course of time the wonderful power of intuition, which ultimately
enables them to occupy the highest position in their respective fields. Excellent poetry
and epics, highest quality of literature, lofty philosophies of great thinkers, outstanding
inventions of scientists, etc. are all classical manifestations of the wonderful power of
intuition. The fact is that every person has the habit of contemplation. However his
contemplation is in the form of worry and anxiety. Since most of the time, Man
contemplates negatively and destructively, he receives undersirable results. Hence if Man
contemplates on money he becomes rich, if he contemplates on a disease he becomes
sick, if he contemplates on ghosts he becomes a ghost, if he contemplates on good
objects he acquires them. In the same way, if he contemplates on God he becomes God
himself. Hence, in his own interest, Man must make relentless efforts to give up the habit
of worrying and instead develop the habit of continuous auspicious contemplation. GOPIS
(female cow heads) contemplated lovingly on Krishna and they developed Krishna
consciousness, Kaunsa contemplated on Krishna through fear and he also acquired
Krishna consciousness, Shishupal contemplated on Krishna through enmity and yet he
also attained Krishna consciousness. Man must therefore understand the mightly power
of the auspicious contemplation and divine meditation to experience a beautiful life and
ensure his well being. In this context, the following quotations of Sant Tukaram are very
relevent.
1) The mind acquires the attributes of the objects on which Man contemplates.
2) Contemplation of God is the essence of service to Him.
