7) Notwithstanding the existence of testing processes that may be
utilized to determine eligibility, the hiring department will be
required to interview all eligible finalists. The reason(s) for the
nonselection o! any finalist shall be stated on the candidate
Assessment form by the Department Head or designee. In the event the
hiring department rejects a.11 thosEl listed, the Personnel Office
shall initiate further recruitment and prepare a new list of
applicants.
8) After reviewin~ the selection activities with the appropriate
Personnel staff member, the hiring i;;upervhor will make a selection
reeom:mendation to the respective Department Head. The Personnel
Office will coordinate a job related pre-employment background
verification on the individual(&) bein9 considered !or appointment
and submit said review to the Department Head or designee. Such
background verification may include, but not necessarily be limited
to, a check of references and/or former employers/supervisors, and
verification of degree, certifications, or driver's license.
9) Conditional Job ,Offer
(A) The Personnel O'ffice may make a conditional job offer to the
selected applicant contingent upon successful completion of City
medical examination requirements. A city medical exatnination
and/or psycholoqical examination shall be required for all
selected candidates for desiqnated positions to determine
functional capacity to perform the essential functions of the
job.
(B) Upon the selected candidate's acceptance of the conditional job
offer, the Personnel Office will schedule the applicant for a
post-offer pre-employment physical or psychological examination,
if required. Results of the examination shall be maintained on
separate forms in a separate file and shall be treate.d as a
confidential record.
(C) Under no circumstances shall a candidate report to work prior to
the City's receipt of acceptable post-offer pre-employment
physical and/or psychological examination results.
(D) Should the medical examination identify limitations to perfo:t"lll-
ing the essential functions of the job, the Personnel Office and
Department Head or designee, in consultation with the selected
applicant, will determine whether reasonable accommodation can
be provided.
10) unconditional Job Offer
(A) For a position not requiring a City medical examination and/or
psychological examination, the Personnel Office may make a job
offer to ·the selected applicant.
11) Upon formal appointment the Personnel Office will notify all
unsuccessful candidates and, at the request of the Department Head or
designee, establish an employment list consisting of the names of
qualified candidates who will be considered for future vacancies that
occur, pursuant to Section 25A-5-3 of the Personnel Rules.
