An Administrative Regulation Governing Tuition Reimbursement
and Superseding AR-90-8
Section 1. Introduction
The City ofFannington recognizes that a tuition reimbursement program is a benefit to
employees and to the City. It is the intent of this program to encourage employees to
enhance existing job skills and to obtain new job skills through education.
Further, it is the intent of the City ofFarmil1gton to assist employees in obtaining a
quality education.
Section2. Eligibility
This tuition reimbursement program is available to regular, full-time employees who
have completed the probationary period. Reimbursement wiil be made to the employee
for tuition expenses incurred while attending a college or university accredited by one of
the following:
1. l\1iddle States Associatio11 of Colleges & Schools
2. New England Association of Schools & Colleges;
3. North Central Association of Colleges & Schools;
4. Torth.west Commission on Colleges & Universities;
5. Southern Association of Colleges & Schools;
6. Westem Association of Schools & Colleges; or,
7. Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).
Section 3. Covered Expenses
Reimbursement for tuition for the first two years of undergraduate work (up to 72 credit
hours) is limited to $500.00 per employee per calendar year. Reimbursement for tuition
will be at 100%, up to $500.00 per year, for a grade of"C" or above, or a grade of"pass"
in a pass/fail course.
Reimbursement for tuition for the second two years of undergraduate work (up to 60
credit hours) is limited to $750.00 per employee pet calendar year. With a plan of study
in place, reimbursement for tuition will be at 100%, up to $750.00 per year, for a grade of
"C" or above, or a grade of"pass" in a pass/fail course. The class or classes for which
reimbursement is sought must be listed within the plan of study.
Reimbursement for tuition for post-grndualc work is limited to $750.00 per employee per
calendar year. Reimbursement for tuition will be at I 00%, up to $750.00 per year, for a
grade of "B" or above, or a grade of "pass" in a pass/fail course.
