October 4th
By Brittany amalfi
For over 30 years, runners have been able to participate in the spectacular New Hampshire Marathon. This race is unlike any other. With its scenic beauty and community atmosphere, it certainly doesn’t feel like you’re running 26.2 miles.
“The event features a course around Newfound Lake during our most spectacular season, peak foliage. For the past few years, the NH Marathon has at- tracted runners from all 50 states and 10 countries.” Participants have the choice to run a full mar- athon, half-marathon, or a 10k. Jay Stevens Named 2025 Citizen of the Year
By Donna rhoDes
At a recent presentation, members of Plymouth Elks Lodge 2312 were pleased to announce Jay Stevens of Campton as their 2025 Citi- zen of the Year. The fraternal organization said they wished to recognize him for years of service to the nation and his own community.
From 1991-2000, Stevens was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in active duty with his fellow soldiers. When he left the Army after nine years, Stevens did not aban- don his commitment to serve however.
Upon his return home, he signed up to join the N.H. State Police, where he held multiple roles over the next 21 years.
Steven’s impressive resume includes time served as Field Training Officer and a K9 Handler. He was also a mem-

five years, Stevens was also a Troop Detective at Troop F in Twin Mountain, N.H., before eventually retiring as the De- tective Sergeant at Troop D, based out of Concord.
Even after retirement, Stevens still maintains his dedication to NHSP though by working as an Auxiliary Trooper, assigned to the N.H. Information and Analysis Center. There his mission is to help reduce criminal gun vio- lence in the state.
As busy as Stevens has been for all these years however, he still finds time to volunteer many hours of his time each week as the coordinator of the Campton Food Pantry. There he is now making a difference in the lives of his neighbors and friends.
For this and much more, the Plymouth Elks Lodge 2321 is very pleased to honor Jay Stevens as its 2025 Citizen of the Year.
