III - UAE Public Holidays
An employee is entitled to an official holiday with full wage on the following occasions:
1. Hijri New Year's Day - 1 day
2. Gregorian New Year's Day - 1 day
3. Eid Al Fitr (end of Ramadan) - 2 days
4. Eid Al Adha and Waqf - 3 days
5. Prophet Mohammed's Birthday - 1 day
6. Isra and Al Miraj - 1 day
7. Martyrs’ Day – 1 Day
8. UAE National Day - 1 day
The date(s) on which the above official holidays fall depend on the Ministry of Labor's
announcements, which are published in the local newspapers shortly before they occur. Any overtime
worked during public holidays will be compensated as per the Overtime policy.
IV - Special Leaves
The company allows special leaves in specific circumstances as listed below which will not form part
of employee's annual leaves entitlement. However, company reserves the right to treat such leaves as
unpaid and disallow any related benefit, if employee fails to submit appropriate evidence for the
required leaves within stipulated time period.
Bereavement/Compassionate Leaves
1. To support the employees in unfortunate event of death of any close family member (i.e. parents,
spouse, children, siblings), company allows 3 working days of paid leaves to the aggrieved employee.
2. For compliance requirements, employees are required to submit appropriate official evidence (such
as proof of relationship and death) within 30 days after returning from bereavement/compassionate
leave.
Maternity Leaves
4. A female employee, who has completed at least one year of continuous service, is entitled to a 45
days’ maternity leave with full pay, which includes the period before and after the delivery.
5. A female employee, who has not completed one year of continuous service, is entitled to a 45 days’
maternity leave with half pay, which includes the period before and after the delivery.
6. At the end of the maternity leave, a working woman has the right to extend her maternity leave for
a maximum period of up to 100 days. The additional leave days from original maternity leave will be
allowed without pay. This unpaid leave can be for continuous or non-consecutive days, if such absence
is due to an illness preventing her from resuming her work. The illness must be confirmed by a
certified government physician licensed by the competent health authority.
