                             Varanasi and Vishakhapatnam.
                                 The Export Promotion offices in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin,
                             Nagpur and Pune are also functioning under the administrative control of
                             the Regional Joint Director General of Foreign Trade.
                                 3. Cabinet Committee on Export: The Cabinet Committee under
                             the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister expedites decision on important
                             policy matters relating to exports.
                             Advisory Bodies
                                 1. Board of Trade: It was set up on May 5, 1989 with a view to
                             provide an effective mechanism to maintain continuous dialogue with trade
                             and industry in respect of major developments in the field of international
                             trade. It has been reconstituted on 13 August 1991 by the Union Commerce
                             Ministry with Minister for Commerce as its Chairman. The Deputy Minister
                             of commerce is the Boards Vice-chairman. The board ordinarily meets
                             twice a year and advises the GOVT on following matters:
                                 (a) To advise the Government on policy measures for preparation
                                     and  implementation of both short  and long  term plans for
                                     increasing  exports in  the light of emerging national  and
                                     international economic scenario.
                                 (b) To review exports performance of various sectors,  identify
                                     constraints and  suggest  measures to  be  taken  both by
                                     Government and industry/trade  consistent with the need  to
                                     maximise export earning and restrict imports.
                                 (c) To examine the existing institutional framework for exports and
                                     suggest practical measures for reorganisation/streamlining it with
                                     a view to ensuring co-ordinated and timely decision making.
                                 (d) To review  the policy, instrument  package  of incentives and
                                     procedures for exports and suggest steps to rationalise and
                                     channelise incentives to areas where they are most needed.
                                 2. Export Promotion Board: There is an Export Promotion Board
                             under the Chairmanship of the Cabinet Secretary to provide policy and
                             infrastructural support through greater co-ordination among ministries
                             concerned  for boosting  the  growth  of exports. All ministries  directly
                             connected with facilitating foreign trade are represented on this Board by
                             their secretaries. This however, includes Secretaries of Departments of
                             Commerce Ministry of Finance, Dept. of Revenue, Dept of Industrial Policy
