alegre la tristeza y triste el vino.
RHYME LV
Amid the discordant uproar of the orgy
my ears were caressed
by a note of distant music
the echo of a sigh.
The echo of a sigh that I knew well,
formed of a breath I have drunk,
perfume of a flower that grows dark
in a shady cloister.
My lover-of-the-day, kind, asked
-What are you thinking of?" I said:
-Nothing... -Nothing, and you weep? -It's just
a pleasant sadness and wine is sad."
(Moraleja: "Si mal vino bebes, escribir rimas no debes.")

Humorista.
Humorist.
Left by his muse, his wife and his swallows, Bécquer mustn't have been in good terms
with wine.
And I wonder: Could the echo of a sigh be heard in a deafening orgy? Is it normal to have
a pleasant sadness and sad wine? I don't think so!
(Moral: "If you drink bad wine, you shouldn't write rhymes")
