Rumor has it that you are an expert marksman. Is this true and if so, tell us how this came
about?
This is true but shooting is a perishable skillset. My name was added to the wall of fame in
1994 at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center for shooting a perfect score during a training
course. I am a state certified law enforcement firearms instructor and qualified as an expert
with the NRA.
What is the most interesting call you ever went on in law enforcement?
I have been on calls that cover the full range from funny to gruesome and everywhere in
between. I remember one call that came in about a child being hit by a car. When I arrived on
the scene, I saw the bike, the car, and a lady holding a scared young boy in her arms shaking
him from side to side as his broken leg was dangling. They were both screaming tremendously
and the boys leg looked horrendous. I had to calm her down enough to put her son down so
that I could assist. If anyone wants to hear about some of the more gruesome encounters (like
the man who got ran over by the train), just drop by to see me at any time but be prepared to
hear the real stuff.
What is your favorite TV show?
America’s Got Talent
If someone is fixing you your favorite dinner, what are they fixing?
Cube steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, black-eyed peas, cornbread, and sweet tea!
What’s the best piece of advice you were ever given?
“There’s never enough time to do it right the first time, but there’s always plenty of time to re-
do it!” When I was young and working at Sears Surplus Store, Mr. Edwards taught me the
importance of doing your job right the first time.
