What is your proudest accomplishment at DDS?
I would have to say achieving our State Certification in 2016 is my proudest achievement to
date. Prior to that, we didn’t have SOPs to follow doing our work. That project helped us to
develop a comprehensive SOP Manual which now guides our efforts each day on the job.
Knowing that we are among a very few elite agencies in Georgia who have reached this
plateau is a great feeling.
Who is your hero or role model?
My Dad is my hero. He worked for AT&T for 44 years. He grew up in a small town in South
Georgia and got his degree in Electrical Engineering in the 50s. He was loyal and hardworking
and provided a good life for our family.
What two words best describe you?
Loyal and Trust worthy
What hobbies do you enjoy away from the office?
I enjoy shooting. This is something I’ve enjoyed my whole life. I have been a law enforcement
firearms instructor since 1984 and enjoy sharing my knowledge of firearms with young officers
to help equip them to defend themselves.
Tell us about your family?
On September 3rd, I will have been married to my high school sweetheart, Robin, for 29 years. I
have two beautiful daughters, Samantha who is a graduate of Georgia Tech and works as a
Financial Analyst with Acuity Lighting; and Olivia, who is a senior at Georgia Southern
University.
Who is your favorite sports team?
The Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Where is the most interesting place you have ever been?
Since I enjoy shooting, I would have to say it was the Smith & Wesson Factory and Museum in
Springfield Massachusetts.
How has law enforcement changed in your life-time?
Significant events have had a real change in law enforcement. Technology such as body
cameras has really changed what we are able to see taking place. Radio and computer
communications have improved tremendously and we are able to predict crime before it
happens, to a certain extent, using data driven policing techniques.
