1.3 Shopfront Doors

The standard shopfront door is to be a powder When there is a timber shopfront, an overhead
coated aluminium hinged door frame finished door closer should be fitted by the shopfitter.
in RAL 7043. Single full height glazed panel door The design of door and frame must allow for this.
with decals with a plastic coated full height
       door handle in RAL 9010.

The main entrance door is either a single door
or two. A single customer entrance door must
provide level access and a minimum effective
clear width of 1050mm. When two single doors
are required, one is for customer access and
the other for deliveries. Double doors will only
be used where they have been installed by a
developer. The customer access door must
comply with Part M (Access to and Use of
Buildings) and meet the aims and objectives of
       the Equality Act 2010.

The delivery door should provide a clear
1000mm opening. This door will need to be fitted
with a ‘Maglock’ (by others) or other coded
access control system, and will need a 75mm
head rail on the door frame. The closer spring
for this door requires adjustment to ensure that
the ‘Maglock’ works correctly, i.e. that it closes
firmly enough to minimise security risk but not so
fast that it bounces back open.

When a delivery door is in full public view, it
should be obscured by a frosted vinyl film.
This applies to top and bottom glazed panels
and top lights, as appropriate. The top panel
should incorporate the domino tile logo (not
the previous diamond logo) with the lines and
       letters cut out.

If a driver’s door is present in the shopfront,
there should be a standard heavy duty letter
plate, that is usually on the main door when the
driver’s door isn’t visible from the shopfront.
