4.5.3 Fire Alarm
Design, supply and install a fire alarm system
in accordance with all current Building Regs
standards and as the project drawings.
The design should note the requirements of
BS5839 Section 1- part 6, Section 4 -part 36, 39 &
41, Section 6 - part 44 & 45 in particular.
The system should incorporate a battery backed
control panel, manual call points, automatic
detectors and sounders, as required by Building
Inspector and Fire Officers for each specific
project.
The control panel shall incorporate a facility
to link with other fire alarm systems within the
complex, where required, so that fire signals can
be received from others as well as transmitting a
fire signal to others.
The panel MUST display the emergency number
to call in the event of faults to the system. The
panel must display the reset code.
All wiring to the fire alarm system shall be
carried out using concealed BASEC certified
red sheathed mineral insulated or fire resistant/
performance cabling complying with BS6360
Class 2 and meeting the requirements of BS6387
Category CWZ.
Allow to demonstrate the system to the
franchisee at handover.
All installation, commissioning and O&M
manuals must be provided by the Principal
Contractor on project handover.
