P. 6
Soon, the country’s administration implemented a
nationwide lockdown. No businesses shall be open, and
everyone must stay home; the government pointed out
that anyone who disobeys would have to face the military.
The start of quarantine for Tala was adequate since she was
used to being all alone and staying home all the time.
Although she has friends with whom she communicates,
she still feels lonely.
Three months into quarantine, and she is spiraling into
insanity. Not really, though; that was just what she felt; her
thoughts were killing her. Every day, she would wake up
and do the same routine she did six weeks ago, which was
exhausting. And at night, Tala would stay up as her
thoughts devoured her whole; she would go from thinking
positively that the pandemic would eventually end to ideas
that would go back to her mother and were going to be
lonely for the rest of her life. Tala also thought of the bills
she had to pay, and the food does not have, as her job was
put to a stop and she was running out of money.
This led her to have feelings of anxiety resulting from mild
panic attacks where she had learned to deal with silently
through the years. Tala felt helpless as she did not know
what to do with her feelings, and she did not have anything
to distract herself with, unlike her part-time job.
