STATIONARY EQUIPMENT (9-100)
9-100 Do not ride on conveyors.
9-101 Do not repair any conveyor or jaw crusher or other equipment unless
it is de-energized, LOTO, and tested. Ensure counterweights are in
zero energy state. Adjustments made to energized equipment must
be done in a safe manner consistent with the manufacturer’s service
and maintenance recommendations.
9-102 Use extended grease lines to grease bearings. Never reach into a
guarded area to perform greasing unless equipment is locked
out/tagged out (LOTO).
9-103 When hoisting rocks from a crusher always de-energize and follow the
LOTO procedure.
9-104 Visually inspect the entire length of the conveyor or sound an audible
warning to make sure everyone is clear before starting a conveyor
belt or other processing equipment.
9-105 Report all defective visual/audible warning devices (i.e. ground fault
indicators, start-up alarms, etc…).
9-106 Check and document all emergency stop cords (pull cords) at least
monthly to ensure integrity.
9-107 Use conveyor crossover structure. Never step on or over a moving
conveyor. Follow LOTO procedure before conducting conveyor repair
or maintenance and when taking QC samples from conveyors.
9-108 Do not attempt to remove or adjust a guard when the machinery is in
operation. Follow LOTO procedure. Always replace guard when
work is completed.
9-109 If it becomes necessary to operate any machinery without the guards
in place (for test purposes only), you must use effective measures to
warn others working in the area so that no one will be injured by the
unguarded parts. When the job is complete, immediately replace the
guards.
9-110 Do not work in any area without sufficient lighting.
9-111 Electrical cables greater than 150 volts, that are to be moved, must be
de-energized . If energized cables are moved or handled, the use of
properly rated insulated slings, hooks, ropes or electrical gloves is
required.
