8-334 Let no part of the body, other than electrician’s glove-protected
hands, touch the cable.
8-335 No one is permitted to work or walk within the known swing
radius while equipment is operating. If you are required to
examine the ground, notify the operator to stop operations. Do
not begin until you are given clearance.
8-336 When loading trucks, load in a manner that prevents large rocks
from overhanging truck beds.
HAUL TRUCKS (8-400)
8-400 As a driver, you must maintain absolute control of your truck at
all times and must be particularly careful when approaching
loading zones, intersections, crushers, when passing other
vehicles and when driving on grades.
8-401 Before backing a haul truck, always make sure that the area is
clear.
8-402 Obey posted speed limits and other traffic controls. Always bring
trucks to a complete stop at all stop signs and make sure that
the road is clear in both directions before proceeding.
8-403 Immediately report and document any defective conditions of
your truck to your supervisor.
8-404 Do not allow a truck to coast or move when it is out of gear.
8-405 Select the correct gear before starting up or down grades.
8-406 Operate your truck with the front brakes engaged or in the “on”
position.
8-407 Watch the highwall face at all times while around shovels or
loaders. Always remain in the cab of your vehicle or maintain a
safe distance during the loading process.
8-408 Do not position your truck parallel to the highwall when being
loaded unless you are at a safe distance from the highwall (25%
of the height of the wall).
8-409 Maintain awareness of all gauges and alarms at all times.
8-410 Sound horn before moving equipment.
8-411 Report defective back-up alarms and make sure that they are
repaired immediately. If a condition exists where the vehicle
must be backed up with a defective alarm (i.e. in garage area,
etc.), sound the horn manually and use a spotter.
