8-305 Stay alert whenever you are working near heavy equipment.
Listen for back-up alarms and be aware of equipment location
and travel path at all times.

8-306 If it is necessary to follow a haul truck, allow at least 100 feet to

8-307 Operate equipment at a safe distance from high voltage lines.
                                       See Rule 8-601.

8-308 Use extreme caution and stay away from the edge when leveling
                                       stockpiles. Always maintain a berm.

8-309 Do not work under buckets or shovels, draglines, front-end

safe. Follow LOTO/BO procedures for Mobile Equipment.
Equipment must be in a zero mechanical state.

8-310 Do not place yourself between operating equipment, and the
                                       base of highwalls, or embankments.

8-311 Before approaching any equipment, signal to the operator,

                                       mobile equipment at any time.

8-313 Do not place material or objects that obstruct the operators view.

8-314 Check location of fellow workers and other machinery or
vehicles before operating equipment and sound the horn prior to
                                       movement.

8-315 When you must leave mobile equipment unattended make sure
that you place the equipment in proper gear, lower all ground -
engaging tools, set the brakes, shut off engine, and chock the

your supervisor (i.e. steps, wipers, lights, alarms, horn, cracks in
                                       windshield).

8-318 Keep decks and walkways free of grease, oil, mud and debris to
