8-172 Wear safety goggles, face shields, approved respirators, dual
hearing protection (earplugs and earmuffs) and work gloves
when chipping inside of drum. Follow confined space entry
procedures before entering drum.
8-173 Anyone entering the drum is responsible to ensure that the
mobile equipment is properly LOTO/BO.
8-174 To properly LOTO/BO mobile equipment refer to the “Lockout
Tagout and Blockout Procedures” for mobile equipment (See
Rules 4-300 through 4-307).
8-175 Post a warning sign (tag) stating that work is in progress inside
the drum.
8-176 Block the drum to prevent movement.
8-177 Ventilate the drum.
8-178 Use designated platform to climb inside drum.
8-179 Use covers/guards over flights.
8-180 Test brakes for air leaks after every shift while parked. Report
any audible air leaks.
8-181 Wear appropriate PPE required by the product SDS when
washing equipment with products other than water.
8-182 If a piece of mobile equipment breaks down, immediately notify
the appropriate mechanic or supervisor. They are responsible for
approving repairs and releasing the vehicle back into service or
authorizing its removal from the site.
MOBILE EQUIPMENT INCIDENT (8-200)
8-200 At the Jobsite – Proceed as follows:
A. Do not admit or deny responsibility for any damage.
B. Explain courteously that the Company (your supervisor) will
be notified at once.
C. Report all incidents regardless of how minor, to the on-site
supervisor (in addition to your own supervisor and dispatch).
