8-201 While driving on Public Streets – Proceed as follows:
A. Stop immediately. Call 911 and report the accident. Be sure to
report any injuries.
B. Move your vehicle out of traffic if it is required by local procedures
or if instructed by police. But before moving and only when it is
safe to do so, attempt to take photos of the accident scene, the
damage to both vehicles and any other property damage.
C. Post warning devices (triangles/cones) to alert oncoming traffic.
D. After posting warning devices, return to and remain in the truck
until the police arrive.
E. Be courteous, but do not sign anything or discuss the accident
with anyone except to the police and authorized company
representatives.
F: Report the accident to your supervisor and/or safety
representative by phone immediately. Obtain names, addresses
and telephone numbers of every person in any other vehicle and
any witness(s) if possible. If they refuse to give you their names,
obtain their license plate numbers. If anyone is taken to the
hospital, note the name of the hospital on your VMC Driver’s
Report of Accident form.
G. Do not admit responsibility. Do not agree to pay for anything.
H. Supply only the following information to the officials or person
involved in the incident:
• your name,
• your driver's license number,
• company name,
• company address,
• company telephone number.
PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AREAS (8-300)
8-300 Examine and report unsafe areas and faces for unsafe conditions at
the beginning of each shift, after blasting, and after every rain, freeze,
or thaw.
8-301 Correct or barricade, and warn others of unsafe conditions before
continuing.
8-302 Remove equipment and do not work near a shot that is being loaded
without your supervisor's approval.
8-303 Know and follow procedures at your operation for warnings before and
after a shot or blast.
