8-142 Set the emergency parking brake whenever leaving the cab,
since air hand valves could fail, and chock vehicle.

8-143 Use three points of contact and face equipment when entering
and/or exiting vehicles and when mounting or dismounting
ladders. Never jump from equipment or ladders.

8-144 Wear an ANSI-approved hard hat when out of vehicle when on
company property and at job sites.

8-145 Wear a DOT approved reflective vest when you are out of the
vehicle at a DOT job site.

8-146 Walk around mobile equipment and check thoroughly to ensure
that all personnel and other equipment are clear of obstacles or
                                       hazards before starting or moving.

                              Mixers and Haulers

8-147 Set parking brake and use chocks, parking ditch, berms, or
otherwise block parked equipment from movement when
                                       unattended.

8-148 Clean equipment and trim or level loads in designated areas prior
                                       to going onto public streets.

8-149 Lower truck bed before traveling and/or leaving dumpsite. Trim or
level load from the ground or in designated trim rack area.

8-150 Depending on the type of mixer, position chutes straight back or
to the appropriate side in the locked position. Attach safety
chains, if provided, when driving to/from job sites.

8-151 Keep chute ram in the lowest position possible after removing
                                       slack from the safety chain.

8-152 Raise the booster axle when arriving at job sites or after exiting
                                       the public roadway.

8-153 Do not lower booster axle when drum is empty. If absolutely
necessary, lower it only part way.

8-154 Use extreme care when lowering the booster axle under empty
drum conditions. This can cause the rear drivers to be lifted
above the ground and result in a runaway vehicle.
