QC LABORATORY SAFETY (7-100)
7-100 Be fully aware of the Laboratory Emergency procedures and
equipment including the location and use of showers, eyewash
stations, and fire extinguishers.
7-101 Wear hearing protection when exposed to excessive noise in the
lab.
7-102 Ensure that ventilation in the lab is removing dust created from the
sampling process. If excessive dust is present, wear an approved
respirator.
7-103 When possible, restrict the weight of QC samples to a maximum
weight of 30 lbs.
7-104 POUR ACID INTO WATER - Never pour water into acid.
7-105 Flush outside of acid bottles with water before opening them.
7-106 Do not lay bottle stoppers down on any surface where another
person may rest their hand or arms.
7-107 Keep acid bottles tightly stopped. Flush with water and dry them
before replacing them on the shelf. Make sure that no spillage
remains on tables, floors, or bottles.
7-108 Do not handle electrical connections when your hands are wet.
7-109 Use gloves, a mitten or a pair of tongs when handling hot objects.
7-110 IMMEDIATELY rinse eyes or skin that has been splashed or
spattered with acids, caustics, or strong oxidizing solutions at
eyewash stations. Rinse thoroughly with water for at least 15
minutes. Remove clothing that is contaminated.
