MOBILE EQUIPMENT (8-100)
These rules apply to all operators of mobile equipment, used on-site and off-
site.
DRIVERS’ SAFETY (8-100)
Preparing for the Road
8-100 Do not operate any equipment or machinery unless you have been
trained and authorized to do so.
8-101 Do not operate a company vehicle unless you have a valid state
driver’s license. In addition, you may not operate certain commercial
motor vehicles (CMV’s) unless you have a valid commercial driver’s
license (CDL).
8-102 If you are a commercial driver you must always carry your valid CDL
with endorsements and required medical card while operating
Company equipment. Always display license or card upon the request
of any supervisor.
8-103 Report any suspension or revocation of your license to your
supervisor immediately.
8-104 Use seat belts if the vehicle or equipment that you are operating is so
equipped.
8-105 Perform pre-operational and post-trip inspections of your equipment to
determine any defects. Immediately report to your supervisor or
mechanic any defects that would affect the safe operation of the
equipment. Tag the unsafe vehicle “out of service” until you are
certain that it has been repaired and released. This requirement
applies to all mobile equipment and vehicles such as service trucks,
welding trucks, pick-up trucks, cars and vans that are routinely parked
at the facility during off-shift hours.
8-106 Do not allow passengers to ride on the outside of any company
vehicle or in the bed of pick-up trucks.
8-107 Keep license plate and vehicle identification number clean.
8-108 Park vehicle safely and properly chocked or secured.
8-109 Keep vehicle as clean as possible at all times.
8-110 Do not store extraneous materials, which are not pertinent to job
performance, in the cab. Secure loose objects before travel.
