                                                   Abstract

This descriptive research study aimed to study factors affecting to breast cancer screen-
ing for breast self-examination among women in Thalang district, Phuket Province. Population
consisted of 14,219 women aged 35-60 years which be registered in Thalang district, Phuket
Province, and the sample size calculating used Daniel formula for 268 cases, and multi-stage
random sampling was determined for collecting data such as cluster sampling and systematic

sampling, respectively. Data collected by questionnaires including, characteristics, knowledge of
breast cancer, health perception, and breast self- examination behavior, which tested reliability by
cronbach’s coefficient alpha about 0.86. Data analyzed factor association and factor predicting
using statistical as Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regres-
            sion analysis.

The result shown that knowledge of breast cancer had mean score with high level (x =
            2.05, S.D. = 0.828), health perception had mean score with moderate level (x = 2.11, S.D. =

0.336). An association analyzed found that health perception were associated with breast cancer
screening for breast self-examination among women in Thalang district, Phuket Province with
            statistic significant including; benefit perceive (r = 0.136, P-value = 0.026), problem perceive (r =
            0.162, P-value = 0.008), and confidence (r = 0.172, P-value = 0.005), respectively. Prediction
model analyzed reported that three selected factors including; menopause (P-value = 0.046),
            benefit perceive (P-value = 0.007), risk perceive (P-value = 0.015) respectively, overall selected

factors accounted for 10.4% of the variance breast cancer screening.
