                                   A BIU reset should only be performed if the potential                    LANDING
                                   loss of a currently operational system or function is
                                   acceptable in order to recover a failed system (such
                                   as TCAS or the GEN FAIL ACAWS). Aircraft systems                         DITCHING
                                   which interface with a failed BIU may remain in their last
                                   state if the BIU lost 1553 bus communication but is still
                                   powered. Therefore, resetting a failed BIU could cause                   BAILOUT
                                   some systems which are still operating to subsequently
