             of the respondents are young, without the benefit of marriage, secondary graduate, with an
             income below the poverty line, no employment, undergone a regular check-up and belongs to
             the most dominated religion in the country.  The respondents knew that undergoing consultation
             to a health care provider is important to determine the presentation of the fetus while inside
             the uterus and understood that colostrum in the breastmilk is best for babies.The respondents
             practiced going for a regular check-up and fed the baby right after the delivery and submitted
             the child for necessary preventions in childhood illnesses. The primigravida mothers who were
             college graduates, married and older who visited frequently the health care facility are more
             knowledgable along the three areas.Along practices, primigravida mothers who are more than
             20 years old, with higher income and those who frequently visited the health care facility had
             higher level of practices.
                    Based  on  the  conclusions  prepared,  the  following  recommendations  are  given.
             Primigravida mothers at a younger age must submit for prenatal counseling for them to know
             all aspects relating to pregnancy. They must become more mature to know the proper way of
             caring the child. Mothers must strengthen their knowledge and practices by frequently attending
             to mothers’ classes or other activities related to pregnancy care sponsored by the health center
             or any health care facility. Primigravida mothers can still pursue higher level of education to
             increases their knowledge and to have additional income for their family. Mothers must undergo
             more orientation or sessions with the health care provider to increase their knowledge on the
             right practices in pregnancy. The proposed plan of activities can be adapted to improve the
             knowledge and practices of primigravida mothers.


                         HEALTH CARE SERVICES OF DISTRICT HOSPITALS

                    This study was conducted to determine the extent of satisfaction of patients on the
             services of district hospitals in La Union as well as the problems encountered by the respondents
             in the delivery of healthcare services and what Health Care Services (HCS) delivery enhancement
             program can be proposed to improve the service of District Hospitals (DH).
                    The  study  used  the  descriptive  research  method  and  utilized  various  statistical
             treatments like frequency, weighted mean, and the Pearson Product Moment of Correlation.
                    The respondents of the study were patients of the four (4) 25 bed capacity district
             hospitals in La Union on the last quarter of 2013 and 1st quarter of 2014 who were recently
             discharged and were at the out-patient department for follow up consult.
                    The present study found out the following: Most of the respondents are aged 36 years
             old and above, female, married, high school graduate and unemployed with monthly income
             between 1,000-3,000 php. Most of the respondents stayed in the hospital for 1-3 days and
             mostly availed of the admission health care services.
                    The  respondents  are  satisfied  on  the  HCS  of  DH  along  personnel  as  well  as  along
