sex, civil status, length of service and number of relevant trainings but found to be significantly
related to teaching position and highest educational attainment. On the other hand, the extent
of use of teaching styles in Science is correlated with the highest educational attainment but not
in other mentioned variables.
Based on the aforecited findings, the following conclusions were formulated: 1) the
science teachers of the pubic secondary schools of Urdaneta City Division are in their early
adult, equipped with relevant educational qualifications and trainings; and practically young
in the service 2) the respondent teachers of the public secondary schools of Urdaneta City
used extensively the teaching approaches and styles in the delivery of instructions in science
3) the extent of use of the teaching approaches and style in science by the respo0ndents is
not associated with their profile variables except in teaching position and highest educational
attainment. As regards the extent of use of the teaching style in science by the respondent
teachers, only highest educational attainment is correlated among the profile variables.
In the light of findings and conclusions derived from the study, the following
recommendations are hereby presented 1) since majority of the science teachers have just earned
their masteral units, all concerned teachers should be encouraged to enhance their professional
growth by pursuing their graduate studies in a reputable institution 2) concerned teachers must
upgrade their teaching performance in science by attending relevant trainings in the regional,
national and international levels to further hone their knowledge, skills and competencies in the
use of teaching approaches and style which will improve their craft in teaching science 3) science
teachers should level up their extension use of the teaching approaches and style in science
to make it highly extensive to further enhance pupils performance 4) the proposed program of
activities to improve science instruction should and 5) other studies should be conducted to look
into other aspects of the extent of use of teaching approaches and styles in science in a wider
scope.
