Question: A candidate wants to withdraw one subject but the registration file has already
been forwarded to the Ministry. What should I do?
Answer: You should recall the file from the Ministry. After the file has been recalled, you
should ‘Withdraw’ the subject by selecting the Edit Candidate option. After the subject has
been withdrawn, the file should be sent back immediately to the Ministry.
If the request to withdraw the candidate was made after the official registration deadline date,
the file cannot be recalled from the Ministry. Therefore, you must make an amendment by
selecting the Edit Candidate option. After withdrawing the subject, the data file must be
forwarded to the Ministry for onward transmission to CXC.

The foregoing procedure also applies to late entries.

Question: Is there a fee for withdrawing one or all the subjects from a candidate?
Answer: No. If the withdrawal is made after the official deadline has passed, full payment will
be required for the original entries submitted to CXC.

Question: A candidate is registering for CAPE Economics Units 1 and 2 for the first time and
wants to complete the SBA for Unit 1 only and use the marks from that Unit for Unit 2. Is this
permitted?
Answer: Yes. Candidates who register for any of the seven selected CAPE subjects (Economics,
Geography, History, Law, Literatures in English, Management of Business and Sociology) may
choose to complete the SBA in only one of the Units and use the marks from that Unit as the
SBA marks for the other Unit. The SBA may be completed in Unit 1 or Unit 2. The candidate
must be registered for the SBA option in the Unit in which the assignment will be completed
and for the Transfer option in the Unit in which the marks will be transferred to.
