Director of Administration / Clerk of the Board
                                                      Phone Screen Questions

                  General Questions
                 1. Why are you interested in the DOA opportunity with Vallejo Flood & Wastewater? Why are you
actively or passively looking for a new position?

I'm interested in the position because it aligns very closely with what I do for Napa County, and many
of the duties that are listed in the job description online are very close to what I do now. In addition
to that however, there are some responsibilities like the filing, election management, that I want to
do but am not as much right now. I have experience working with the press. Those opportunities to
utilize my skillset makes me interest. Vallejo is in the path of my direct commute to Napa. I think it
would be a great opportunity to grow more professionally quicker than where I am right now.

Left San Benito in March 2018 and started with Napa in March of 2018 - Present.

                  Position Specific Questions

                 2. Please describe your highest level administrative support role to an Executive, Director, General
                    Manager and/or Board.

Well I've held several positions that fulfill that role. I have served as the City Clerk when I started in
NM. In Huachuca City I worked directly with the Mayor, there was no manager - so I served as the
administrative aid to the mayor, I worked with the city and town councils. In my positions in the
California jurisdictions I have worked directly with the City Manager, providing support to executives
and their staffs, and assistants. Putting agendas together helping to arrange meetings. In my current
role I am responsible for the front desk, the office, the administrative technicians. Right now I have
six people that report to me, although technically, two of them are not in my budget, but things are
                    changing right now.

                 3. Please describe your supervisory experience and the most challenging human resources issue you
                    have addressed.

I have managed an office as small as three people, in Huachuca city I managed 12 department heads.
When I started with Napa I inherited six employees. Previous to that I managed the County
administrative officer and the HR technicians. I also acted as the management aid. If there as an
initiative that needed to be taken care or the review of staff reported, or working with the City
Auditor to make sure different systems were working together, I did all of that. With my current role
with Napa County I interface with the administrative officer.

The most challenging one that I had to deal with was in Huachuca City. I received a report from one
