General Questions
1. Why are you interested in the DOA opportunity with Vallejo Flood & Wastewater? Why are you
actively or passively looking for a new position?
I'm actively looking for a new position. In my previous role I worked in a big department and managed
twelve different department heads. So I felt like at this stage in my career I am more at a managerial
level. At the deputy city level I can make recommendations, and I feel like I am at the stage where I
can go up one more. I am looking for a place where I can have some growth.
Position Specific Questions
2. Please describe your highest level administrative support role to an Executive, Director, General
Manager and/or Board.
As Deputy City Clerk I help the Assistant City Manager and the Deputy City Manager organize events - I
have to make sure everything is in line for them, including travel plans. At Council meetings I have to
make sure that everything is prepared for them. I also work with the City Manager - if he wants a
historical answer about what we've done in the past for certain things. When they need to reach out
to people - I compose letters, I get things sent out for them. A lot of it is clerical and administrative
support. I took care of the programs we were going to use for the opening of a new office, materials
we are going to buy, it was under their directive of creating a passport program.
I worked at the San Mateo Recorder's department. I started working their in 2013 with County of San
Mateo. I worked with a senator to get data. He was working on getting more people to have ballots
mailed to them. The idea is that it would increase voter turnout. I worked on the pilot program,
reported out results. The state decided to continue ti - I think LA County was a part of it also. The last
election I worked was the 2016 election. I worked closely with department head on giving them
communication. We had to work Memorial Day Weekend and had to work a lot. I worked with the
department head in terms of working on his directives and with the management staff.
3. Please describe your supervisory experience and the most challenging human resources issue you
have addressed.
My supervisory experience started with LA county, managed up to 12 people. We were making sure
that ballots and election materials were getting out on time. We had a lot of materials. I was a
transactional supervisor, like are we meeting our production time? We were making sure that we
were doing everything correctly.
